Phoebe Cummings studied Three-Dimensional Crafts at the University of Brighton before completing an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art in 2005.
She has had various exhibitions including a solo show Fragments at Corn Exchange Gallery, Edinburgh, 2006. Group shows have included The Void Ratio, St Michael’s Church, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, 2008, Contain Memory, The Crypt, St Pancras Church, London, 2005 and a joint exhibition with Ulrika Strömbäck, Hockney Gallery, Royal College of Art, London, 2005.
Alongside exhibiting and involvement in various projects, she has undertaken a number of artist residencies in the UK, Greenland and USA. From June – December 2010 she was awarded the second Ceramics Residency at the Victoria & Albert Museum since the programme was launched with the re-development of the ceramics galleries in 2009. In 2008, she spent three months as artist-in-residence at the Kohler Co. factory in Wisconsin as part of the Arts/Industry residency programme supported through the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Other residencies have included a research period at Upernavik Museum, Greenland and creating site-specific works at Bolwick Hall, Norfolk and I-park, Connecticut.
